Spencer County Elementary School students learned about Hands-Only CPR. As part of an awareness event for National Heart Month in February, all 5th grade students at Spencer County Elementary School participated in learning the valuable, lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR.
Spencer County School Nurse, Cindy Hayes, RN with the assistance of PE teacher Jessie Wood, art teacher Glenn Lawson, STEAM teacher Brook Klaus and our wonderful Spencer County EMS Personnel used the American Heart Association interactive lesson to teach the students to 'Be The Beat'. Students practiced giving chest compressions to the song 'Stayin Alive' to learn the correct 100-120 beats per minute compression rate.
Hands-Only CPR has just two easy steps: If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, (1) Call 9-1-1 and (2) Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

These glasses are in our front office. Please let us know if a pair belongs to your Cub.

One of our favorite Fall Festival auction items is Assistant Principal for the day. Isabelle got to hang out with Mrs. Dennis. She helped administer tests, checked in on classrooms, and helped plan the February Learning Celebration. Thank you Isabelle for all of your help! ๐

Today our Cubs practiced being active collaborators at our February Learning Celebration!

Our K & 1st grade Cubs were excited to visit the Teddy Bear Clinic today! The SCHS senior nursing students and our FRC offered the clinic to help students understand more about a visit to the doctor's office. They visited booths about X-rays, vital signs, taking medicine, First Aid, and getting stitches.

Mrs. Dillโs 1st grade class had a great Valentineโs Day! We read a story with a great lesson, collected data on our Sweet Tarts, passed out cards, and had a full plate of snacks with our SCHS volunteers.

We are excited for the month of March and to provide our Cubs with some reading fun!

We still have several spots to fill for our annual career day! If you can't join us, could you share with someone you know? Sign up at: https://bit.ly/scescareerday25

We appreciate everyoneโs patience and understanding. We are counting down the days until Spring right along with you!
*A call is scheduled to go out at 5:00am.
