🌱🌼 Growing Learners in Kindergarten! 🌼🌱 Ms. Hutchins’ kindergarten Cubs had an amazing visit to the FFA Greenhouse with Mr. Dunaway’s class! 🌿👩‍🌾👨‍🌾 Students toured the facilities, learned how plants grow, and discovered how a greenhouse works. The fun didn’t stop there! Our Cubs painted their own pots 🎨 and planted baby plants 🌱 that will stay in the greenhouse until they return next month to check on their growth—how exciting! This hands-on experience helped our students grow as Empowered Learners and Engaged Citizens, exploring science in a meaningful and memorable way. 💡🌎 A big thank you to the SCEF for funding this incredible learning opportunity! 💙 At SCES, we continue to love, learn, and lead—getting our hands a little dirty along the way! 🐾🌿

⛈️🍰 A “Thunder”-ful Day in Mrs. Dill’s Class! 🍰⛈️ Mrs. Dill’s class had a BIG day yesterday! 📚✨ Students proudly presented their book projects and celebrated with a special treat—Thunder Cake! 😋 As part of their author study on Patricia Polacco, students recently read the beloved story Thundercake, learning how a young girl overcomes her fear of thunderstorms. 🌩️💛 Our Cubs shined as Effective Communicators while presenting their projects and as Empowered Learners as they made connections between the story and real-life emotions. Moments like these help build confidence, courage, and a love for reading! 💬📖 We love seeing our students love, learn, and lead—rain or shine! 💙🐾

Our Kindergarten and 1st grade Cubs are getting ready for a special trip to the Teddy Bear Clinic at SCHS! 🧸❤️ They’ll learn about care and compassion while helping their furry friends feel better. We need your help to make this experience extra special! If you’re able, please consider donating a new stuffed animal to support this fun and meaningful event. Our Cubs are keeping the momentum going in Week 2 of our Schoolwide March Reading Challenge! 💪📖 Students are continuing to read, take AR tests, and grow those strong reading habits each day. We are so proud of their dedication! 💙

The competition is heating up as classes climb the leaderboard! 🔥 Be sure to check out the board near the cafeteria to see our top classes and students—you might spot your Cub leading the way! 🏆

🍀🛠️ Leprechaun Engineering in Action! 🛠️🍀 Ms. Hutchins’ and Mrs. Ivy’s classes put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test by engineering leprechaun traps to try to catch that tricky little guy! 🌈✨ Our Cubs worked as Active Collaborators and Problem Solvers, planning their designs, building their traps, and thinking carefully about how they might outsmart the sneaky leprechaun. The classroom was full of imagination, teamwork, and lots of excitement! We love seeing our students love, learn, and lead while tackling fun challenges like this! 💙🐾

📚✨ March Reading Challenge Update! ✨📚

Our Cubs are off to a fantastic start with the Schoolwide March Reading Challenge! Students across the school are reading, taking AR tests, and building strong reading habits all month long. 📖💙

This challenge runs March 2–27, and each week we’ll celebrate our top classes and students on the reading board near the cafeteria. Be sure to check it out to see who’s leading the way! 🏆

📐✨ Hands-On Math in Mrs. Abell’s Class! ✨📐 Students in Mrs. Abell’s math classes are learning how to find the area of rectangles in square units this week! What better way to understand it than through hands-on learning with Magna-Tiles and teamwork? 🧩📏 Working together as Active Collaborators, our Cubs built rectangles, measured the lengths and widths, and discovered how those measurements help determine area. Activities like this help students grow as Problem Solvers and Empowered Learners while making math fun and meaningful! 💡📚 Just another great example of how our Cubs love, learn, and lead at SCES! 💙🐾

🍩📚 Sweet Success for Our Readers! 📚🍩 Mrs. Metts' Cubs have been working hard toward their reading goals, and their dedication paid off in a delicious way! As students reached each reading milestone, they earned fun rewards along the way. Last week they celebrated reading over 2,000 pages with some well-earned donuts! 🎉 Our readers showed what it means to be Empowered Learners and Problem Solvers, setting goals, staying motivated, and pushing themselves to keep turning pages. 📖✨ We’re so proud of their hard work and love seeing our Cubs love, learn, and lead—one page at a time! 💙🐾

🏹🐻 SCES Archery Team Shines at the Bullitt East Charger Countdown to State Tournament! 🐻🏹 Our SCES Cubs had an incredible showing this weekend at the Bullitt East Charger Countdown to State Tournament—and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication!
