Spencer County Community; I hope this message finds you safe and well. As you know, our area faced a significant weather event that resulted in the cancellation of school on Friday, September 27, 2024. While decisions like these often prompt varied opinions, the safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be our top priority. On Friday, several of our schools—TES, SCHS, SCMS, and SCES—did experience power outages, and some areas within Spencer County were without power into the weekend. Any time that one of our schools goes without power there are obvious safety concerns, challenges serving meals, and loss of communication. Additionally, I realize that communication on Friday morning was not as smooth as it should have been. I apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused. We went to work on getting the issue rectified immediately and were able to identify and correct the cause that led to some not receiving the notification email/text/call on Friday morning. To be certain, we will be conducting tests over the next two weeks to verify that any remaining issue(s) have been corrected prior to Fall Break. Lastly, we will be required to make up for Friday’s cancellation. We will address that in the future as we gain a better handle on the impact of winter weather over the coming months. School Closing Announcement: Tiger Cub Village will be CLOSED today, September 27th, 2024.

Spencer County Community; Due to the forecasted wind speeds and potential for flooding, Spencer County schools will be closed on Friday, September 27, 2024. The National Weather Service forecast indicates potentially unsafe conditions for our students and staff that will affect both arrival and dismissal. We will address and communicate make-up information at a future date. TigerCub Village will be open. A decision on extracurricular activities will be made by midday. Introducing our 2024-2025 Student House Leads and Jr. Leads! These students completed the application process and the teacher house leaders determined that these 4th and 5th graders were an outstanding fit for this important leadership role! We can't wait to see what this group will accomplish this year!

TES STEM Happenings

Mrs. Hollan's class learned about ponds during their My View lesson on Informational texts. Students were active collaborators and effective communicators as they illustrated a pond based on an assigned season.

Join the 21st CCLC programs to learn the in and outs of the district’s new communication app- Rooms! This will be on September 26th at 6:30 p.m. at SCMS in the auditorium.

Mrs. Whitely's students practiced effective communication by reflecting on their week. They discussed growth goals and their strengths 😀

Our first tiger talk was so much fun! We love that all of our students belong! Also, new Tiger students were sorted using our sorting board! 🐯 6 houses, 1 school

Tomorrow is our first Tiger Talk!! Students and Staff, please wear your house shirt to represent your Tiger House. New and Kindergarten students received their shirts today. We also delivered shirts that were ordered through house spirit wear to classrooms today!

Arrgh Mateys! Today was National Talk Like a Pirate day and 1st grade celebrated with lots of pirate themed activities! We created our own pirate names, made treasure maps and flags, read books, learned pirate words and did a treasure hunt around the room for them, and got hats and eye patches!
