While the water has receded significantly, we recognize that conditions in some areas are still not back to normal. Things wonโt be perfect, and we ask for your continued flexibility and grace as we resume school.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the close of our second full week of school since December, I want to take a moment to address two important topics: student behavior on the school bus and the submission of transportation notes.
I have received a significant increase in student misconduct reports regarding behavior on the bus. It is essential to remind our students that the same rules that apply in the classroom also apply on the school bus, as it is still considered school property. I ask for your assistance in reinforcing positive behavior with your child to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students during their bus ride.
Transportation Notes:
1. Deadlines & Written Requests:
Any time a student's transportation must change, we require it in writing. Please submit all transportation notes to your child's school no later than 1:30 PM to allow our school personnel sufficient time to review them before dismissal. If a note is turned in after the deadline, it may be denied.
2. Submission Process:
We request that all transportation notes be emailed directly to the designated address associated with your childโs school. This will ensure immediate receipt and response, greatly reducing the risk of misinformation. Here are the email addresses for your reference:
SCHS: schs.transportation@spencer.kyschools.us
Hillview: hva.transportation@spencer.kyschools.us
SCMS: scms.transportation@spencer.kyschools.us
SCES: sces.transportation@spencer.kyschools.us
TES: tes.transportation@spencer.kyschools.us
ELC: elc.transportation@spencer.kyschools.us
Director of Transportation: cameron.chesser@spencer.kyschools.us
3. Shuttle Notes for Sports:
For parents of high school and middle school students involved in sports who need to shuttle, I will accept one note per season that states the student is permitted to shuttle but it must specify they can do it as needed for the season, year, etc. These types of notes will be added into Infinite Campus.
4. Shuttle Routes (HS\MS Students):
- If your student is shuttling from SCMS to SCHS, they should ride Route 11.
- If they are shuttling from SCHS to SCMS, they should ride Route 16.
5. Approval Requirement:
Please remember that students must have an approved transportation note for any changes to their usual route. This policy is crucial for maintaining the safety and proper routing of all of our students as they travel to and from school.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you!

Dr Seuss Week REVISED!

Due to the snow accumulation overnight and its impact on some roads across the district, Spencer County Schools will utilize Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Day #8 today, February 20, 2025.
We appreciate everyoneโs patience and understanding. We are counting down the days until Spring right along with you!
*A call is scheduled to go out at 5:00am.
Stay warm and stay safe!

Due to the forecasted inclement weather expected to impact our area tonight through tomorrow, ๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ will utilize ๐๐จ๐ง-๐๐ซ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐๐๐) Day #7 tomorrow, ๐

A decision regarding extra-curricular activities will be made tomorrow. Tiger Cub Village will make an independent decision and communicate with their families accordingly.
Stay safe and warm!

After assessing multiple areas across the county,
Floodwaters have receded along all bus routes, with only a couple of exceptions where alternate transportation plans have already been communicated to families. All drivers have been instructed to use extra caution and remain alert for potential ice patches due to lingering drainage along roadways.
Additionally, we are closely monitoring the forecast as another round of winter weather is expected tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. Our team will participate in National Weather Service updates this afternoon, evening, and throughout tomorrow to stay informed on potential impacts.
In the meantime, we encourage students, staff, and families to prepare for a possible Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) later this week, should conditions warrant a schedule change.
Thank you for your support!

After consulting with the National Weather Service and considering the potential for hazardous weather conditions, including a Cold Weather Advisory for temperatures in the single digits below zero, and the risk of unsafe conditions in subzero temperatures ๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฌ will implement ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฒ #๐ on ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐๐ง๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐. This decision is made to prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation! Stay safe and warm!

๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐ will be ๐๐๐๐ on a normal schedule.
After assessing bus routes today, we found that while our majority of our roads are in excellent condition, several challenges remain, including low-hanging tree limbs and multiple parked cars in cul-de-sacs and turnarounds. To ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we believe it would be beneficial for drivers to complete their routes after daylight hours. With the expected sunshine tomorrow, we anticipate more melting to occur, further improving turnaround conditions.
We kindly ask that, if possible, keep cul-de-sacs clear of cars to help our buses navigate turnarounds safely.
Thank you for your understanding! We look forward to seeing our students tomorrow morning!

This is just a reminder that Spencer County Schools will implement a ๐๐จ๐ง-๐๐ซ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐๐๐) day ๐จ๐ง ๐

A few key reminders:
๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ: All students are expected to engage to complete their assigned NTI work. This work is essential to maintaining progress and ensuring continuity in their learning.
If you have questions or need assistance, please donโt hesitate to reach out. You can connect with your childโs teachers via ROOMS, or contact your school directly for support.
Our teachers and staff are here to help and are committed to making this a successful learning experience for all students.
We appreciate your partnership and flexibility as we work to keep our students learning and growing, even in these less-than-ideal circumstances. Together, weโll make the most of these NTI days; warmer weather will be here before we know it!

Due to current impact of the winter storm, all Spencer County Schools, Tiger Cub Village, and our Central Office will be closed tomorrow, January 6, 2025.
As a reminder, tomorrow was already designated as a District Professional Development Day for staff, so no classes were scheduled for students.
We will continue to monitor the stormโs impact, including potential power outages, and will make a decision regarding school for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, as soon as possible.

District administrators are closely monitoring the potential for winter weather Sunday through Monday. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority when making decisions regarding school closures.
Below are the possible options we may consider in the event of winter weather:
โข ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐จ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ฒ: School is closed, and no instruction takes place.
Students participate in learning remotely from home.
School start times are adjusted to allow roads to improve.
https://bit.ly/24-25NTIPlan
Now is an excellent time to review our NTI plan and ensure students have the resources they need to participate successfully in remote learning. Families are also encouraged to have an alternative plan in place for childcare in the event school is closed.
We will continue to monitor the forecast and will communicate updates as soon as possible through our usual channels.
