SCMS Band
SCMS Band
Students at SCMS get the opportunity to learn additional content that exercises their brains in a different capacity than core content. Band is an Arts and Humanities elective that students take to learn how to play instruments. Statistics prove that music classes engage parts of the brain that are not typically accessed by learning core content. Music classes also give students an opportunity to express themselves and find a community in which they are accepted and belong.
The SCMS band program is proud to have a cohesive and cooperative program with SCHS—8th graders get the opportunity to experience pep band games, and select students have the opportunity to play up with the high school band. This provides the students with the chance to learn independently at a highly challenging level."
6th Grade Band: 85 students
7th Grade Band: 35 students
8th Grade Band: 53 students
