Their senior webpages are an important component of their senior projects, and we're excited to see our seniors making progress toward graduation. Congratulations to these students for staying on track and earning a well-deserved celebration!

Yesterday kicked off year two of our Spencer County Young Leaders Program with our SCHS student ambassadors. The day focused on setting the stage for leadership and planning for several of this yearโs big community events. As this leadership training series continues throughout the year, students will meet with community leaders, county and city government, and a variety of industry partners to learn more about the strategic priorities and projects that are happening across our community.
As always, we are so grateful for the support and collaboration of our Spencer County โ Taylorsville Chamber of Commerce. This program would not be possible without them. And a special shout-out to Signature Healthcare of Spencer County for sponsoring breakfast for our participants this morning โ THANK YOU!

Our SCHS Advisory classes have been showing off their creativity with a pumpkin decorating contest!
From spooky to silly, our students came up with some amazing designs! One entry even paid tribute to recently retired SCHS teacher Mr. Ed Farrar, who received his very own pumpkin look-alike!
The competition is on, and the winning Advisory class will be treated to an ice cream party!
A special thank you to Deutsch Family Farm for generously donating the pumpkins and helping make this fun fall activity possible!

Special recognition post for our incredible Postsecondary Readiness score from the Class of 2026!
Postsecondary Readiness is measured by the number of graduating seniors who meet a minimum of one indicator that signals their readiness for the next step in their postsecondary plans. This can be achieved in a variety of ways, and we had 92.9% of the Class of 2026 reach at least one of those benchmarks, with over half of them declared "ready" in both academics and careers. Coupled with a bonus for High-Demand Industry Certifications, our indicator ended up at a 102.9! We are proud of the Class of 2026 and grateful to every teacher that had a hand in getting those seniors ready for the next chapter of their lives.

KSA data was released over fall break, and we are excited to share that we are GREEN! Over the past three years, SCHS has seen increases in proficient and distinguished scores across all tested subject areas, and even more exciting, SCHS outperformed the Kentucky state average in EVERY tested area! Our Post-secondary readiness indicator is nearly TEN POINTS higher than the Kentucky average!
It is important to note that students are assessed in each subject only once during their high school careers, meaning that year-to-year comparisons involve entirely different groups of students. These results aren't always an apples-to-apples comparison of the same students' academic growth.
What these numbers DO show is a positive three-year trend and a school community that continues to improve. We are proud of our students for their hard work, our teachers and staff for their dedication, and our families for their continued support.

We are inviting ALL VETERANS in Spencer County AND our surrounding communities to join us for a special drive-thru parade as our students and staff line the school campuses to honor, celebrate, and THANK YOU for your service to our Country!

Starting Location: Spencer County High School
Arrival Time: 9:00 - 9:20 am (enter through the side entrance off Highway 44)
Parade Begins: 9:30 am
Veterans are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with patriotic decorations, their branch of service, years of service, or anything that represents their military journey! We also encourage veterans to bring a driver so they can enjoy the celebration and wave to our students along the route!
AND.....THAT'S NOT ALL...... THE HONORING CONTINUES.....
Following the parade, our local AMVETS invites all Veterans and community members to attend a special Veterans Day ceremony a the Veterans Memorial on Main Street at 11:30 AM

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026 SCPS will once again host the Stand Up for Veterans "Drive-Thru" Parade. We will be cheering and honoring our community's military Veterans by going outside, waving flags, holding signs, and valuing on our nation's bravest as they drive through our lot, then head to the other schools and downtown Taylorsville!
Please help us reach out and invite our Veterans to this event!

October is Principal Appreciation Month, and weโre grateful for a principal who is never afraid to jump in wherever heโs needed!
Whether heโs taking a pie to the face at a pep rally, grilling burgers for a staff tailgating event, celebrating our students' success with a Christmas treat, keeping an eye on the hallways, or even getting pulled on stage to be serenaded during a choir concert, Mr. Phillips is always willing to show up and support the students and staff of SCHS in whatever way he can.

It can be a great fit for retirees, parents, or anyone looking for a schedule that gives you more time at home.
You do not need a CDL or any previous bus driving experience to come out. Thatโs what weโre here for! Come meet our team, get behind the wheel, and see what driving a school bus is actually like.

๐ฅ ๐ฅ No artificial noisemakers. In accordance with KHSAA policy, artificial noisemakers are not permitted at athletic events.
๐ฎ ๐ฎ Clean up after yourself. Before you leave, please take a moment to pick up your trash and leave your seating area clean.
